Presentation Details
The Principle of Least Privilege is a security best practice developed by the Department of Defense over 30 years ago. It states that each subject in a system should be given the most restrictive set of privileges necessary to complete their authorized tasks in order to limit the damage resulting from accident, error or unauthorized use. This principle takes on even greater importance in today’s enterprise computing environments, where properly limiting user privileges can play a key role in reducing both the threat of data breaches and infection from malware.

During his presentation, “Implementing the Security Best Practice of Least Privilege,” Marco Peretti will inform business executives and security professionals on the following items:

- The dangers administrative privileges present to organizations
- The effectiveness of a Least Privilege environment against common   attacks
- How Least Privilege has changed in Windows Vista
- Implementing the principle of Least Privilege in a Windows   environment

As CTO of BeyondTrust, Peretti developed a dynamic per-process privilege management system to enable Least Privilege on Windows over two years ago.
